Port Jervis, NY — As 2025 ushers in new beginnings, Gillinder Glass is thrilled to announce its partnership in one of the world’s most iconic celebrations—the New Year’s Eve Ball at Times Square.
In September 2024, Gillinder Glass was commissioned by a partnering firm to explore a new design for the 2026 New Year’s Eve Ball. After a comprehensive selection process, including a facility tour of the Port Jervis manufacturing plant, real estate firm Jamestown, the owner of One Times Square, awarded the contract to Gillinder Glass to manufacture the glass tiles for the 2025 ball. The company’s team worked closely with partners during the design phase, finalizing three unique versions of the triangular glass tiles. A total of 2,688 tiles were manufactured, embodying the precision and craftsmanship synonymous with Gillinder Glass.
Production began in late November, with Gillinder’s skilled workforce setting new benchmarks in quality and efficiency to ensure on-time delivery for this globally celebrated event. The triangular glass tiles will adorn the six-ton New Year’s Eve Ball, which boasts 32,256 LED lights, creating a dazzling display for millions worldwide.
The New Year’s Eve Ball has been a beloved tradition since its inaugural descent in 1907 atop One Times Square. Over the years, the ball has undergone seven transformations, each iteration reflecting technological and artistic advancements. Today, One Times Square is undergoing its own transformation into a year-round destination for art, technology, and entertainment—making this partnership even more meaningful. The NYE Ball was recently retired in a joyous occasion! The Ball will be dismantled and put on display inside the Times Travel immersive history experience to be viewed year-round when it opens later this year.
Gillinder Glass takes immense pride in contributing to this historic celebration. “As a company with a legacy spanning over 160 years, it’s an honor to showcase true American craftsmanship on such a prominent stage,” said Jim Jones, President and CEO of Gillinder Glass.
Beyond its role in the New Year’s Eve Ball, Gillinder Glass has also been involved in other significant projects, creating designs for institutions such as the Museum of American Glass, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, and the Library of Congress.
